| testing the R3E
Just started to test the R3E after putting it in the new MM case... I guess I am not a true bencher..I don't take it to the Extreme..Just WCing but i do have fun... I LOVE THIS MB!!!!!!!!!!! This MB will let me push it harder than any I have used...Here it is in the MM case: ![]() with the P6T7 or the R2E I could only get to around 4.5 running Vantage. With the R3E I can run Vantage at 4.572 and maybe higher..No wall yet!!! Got to be the board ..same ram and 980X. only thing differnt is the 2 WD 600 raptors instead of 2 300 V raptors in raid 0..This is my best single card Asus 5870 score and cpu speed: ![]() 3D05 was also a new CPU high and single card score...Can't be the ambients because it is Hot in Florida...Just started to test the MB and case is closed up...Ran this at 4.696...Before about 4.650 was the max...vcore was set a 1.44 but goes to 1.48..not really sure why...such a noob!!! ![]() 3D06 was also a new CPU high..4.630...I have run 4.6 before but hit and miss...I think i can take this further... I have alot to learn about all the options the R3E offer..I know I'm like a pimple on you guys arse when it comes to benching but I like to show stuff here..You always cover all the latest... Here is my last pic: ![]() here is 3d06 at 4.665..Just a few points more but i think the 5870 may be the bottleneck with this...I have never run this fast on water running 3D06: ![]() also running 3D05 at 4.727..I notice that even though i set the vcore for 1.44 it goes to 1.46..I am sure there is something i don't understand in the bios...should i worry about that? qpi is 1.39 and pll is 1.83 The score for 05 is lower but that is the 5870 i believe ![]() forgot to mention..The first R3E I had, had to be returned because of the NB high heat...( earlier post) I reseated the complete NB/SB and still ran 70's...The new MB runs low 40's and is great... BEST MB I have ever used!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CRAP, I think this needs to go over to the results thread..George, can we move it all or do i need to re-write it??? sorry... |

Here is a BIOS template (@Geogre: move it to first post, if you see fit, as all other relevant data to come, like DMM measurement): Code: Target CPU Frequency 4410MHz Target DRAM Frequency 1683MHz LN2 Mode: Disabled*** QPI Loadline Calibration: Enabled*** Sync Mode [Enabled] AI Overclock Tuner [Manual] OC From CPU level Up [Auto] CPU Ratio Setting [21.0] CPU Turbo Power Limit [Disabled] >CPU Configuration---------------------------- CPU Ratio Setting [21.0] C1E Support [Enabled] Hardware Prefetcher [Enabled] Adjacent Cache Line Prefetcher [Enabled] Intel(R) Virtualiyation Tech [Enabled] CPU TM Function [Disabled] Execute Disable Bit [Enabled] Intel(R) HT Technology [Enabled] Active Processor Cores [All] A20M [Disabled] Intel(R) SpeedStep(TM) Tech [Enabled] Intel(R) C-STATE Tech [Enabled] C State package limit setting [Auto] ---------------------------------------------- BCLK Frequency [210] PCIE Frequency [100] DRAM Frequency [1683] UCLK Frequency [3789] QPI Link Data Rate [7579] Memory Configuration Protect [Disabled] >DRAM Timing Control-------------------------- CAS# Latency 6 [6] RAS# to CAS# Delay 7 [7] RAS# PRE Time 6 [6] RAS# ACT Time 18 [18] RAS# to RAS# Delay 4 [4] REF Cycle Time 72 [72] WRITE Recovery Time 12 [10] READ to PRE Time 6 [6] FOUR ACT WIN Time 24 [Auto] Back-To-BackCAS# Delay 0 [Auto] Timing Mode 1N [1N] Round Trip Latency on CHA 60 [60] Round Trip Latency on CHB 62 [62] Round Trip Latency on CHC 64 [64] WRITE To READ Delay(DD) 8 [Auto] WRITE To READ Delay(DR) 8 [Auto] WRITE To READ Delay(SR) 18 [Auto] READ To WRITE Delay(DD) 7 [Auto] READ To WRITE Delay(DR) 7 [Auto] READ To WRITE Delay(SR) 7 [Auto] READ To READ Delay(DD) 7 [Auto] READ To READ Delay(DR) 6 [Auto] READ To READ Delay(SR) 4 [Auto] WRITE To WRITE Delay(DD) 7 [Auto] WRITE To WRITE Delay(DR) 7 [Auto] WRITE To WRITE Delay(SR) 4 [Auto] ---------------------------------------------- CPU Differential Amplitude [Auto] CPU Clock Skew [Auto] IOH Clock Skew [Auto] ------------ Extreme Engine Digi+ ------------ Digi+ PWR Mode [T-Balanced] PWR Volt. With a switch or BIOS selection you can use either one. Can have to different BIOSes. Cooling is great! Some say it is not so good, but I'm achieving lower temps with less fans then with my good old DFI UT X58. If having high temps, people should check how tight heat sink fixing screws are. Overclocking wise, first impressions are that I'm achieving same stable clocks with far less voltage. And THE BEST THING: My Mushkin memory is working faaaaaar better then on DFI. It's actualy working fine @ default voltage @ default settings, no need for higher V. It is fully stable even @ 1680 6-7-6-18-1T which was unachievable before. More to come... |
