more:

CPU-Z 4980 mhz

SPI 4950 mhz - 8.312 s

The MB sensors read the temp wrong (65 grade Idle - when the air temp is 0 grade) - how can i disabled over heat protections ??

woah wish had some of that cool air here. Brisbane room temp right now = 33.3C !

Not sure which heat protections you're talking about ? you mean in Asus PC Probe ? The app has known issues when run simultaneously with apps like everest = reporting higher temps then if Asus PC Probe ran by itself.

I mean, the mobo said on POST something like "CPU Temperature Over....." and show some wierd temps : 60-70 grade in Idle. After a while the system shot down automaticaly (several seconds).
I suspect that the Mobo read temp like 100 grade si shot down the system in order to protect the CPU. Maibe the Mobo dind`t like under 0 grade temps.

Is wired because after i close my window and the room temp are 23 grade the Mobo report much lower temps.

All these temps where reported by BIOS and CoreTemp. I don`t use Probe -don`t like`it.

From monitoring section in bios select the MB temp and hit enter and you can change it to 'Ignore'

could be related to subzero or zero temps that it's acts weird as some boards don't read below zero degrees

Guys, I'm sorta out of the loop to the OC thing, but wondered if I could get some suggestions for bios settings on my system for a med OC.
I have this MB as well.

hardware includes:
I7 920
6x2gb Corsair 1600mhz dimms
Therm 120 with dual 120 fans for cpu air cooling
Antec 1200 case (lots of fans)
Corsair 1000w PS
2x EVGA 295 GTX
Windows 7 64bit

Could you suggest a reasonable overclock settings? I'm not very familiar with what the various bios settings do. Is there too much memory in the system?

JeffnWM, best to start your own thread for general help questions in Asus intel board/cpu forum here to get better exposure. But first thread to read and it's linked threads within is Asus X58 + 6/12GB memory overclocking - detecting less memory than installed.

Haven't touched my bench rigs in over 5+ weeks first due to work then recently due to dad's health, but thought I'd update this thread for 0609 beta bios

0609 beta - pre-public beta for Intel Core i7 Extreme 980X Gulftown support (confirmed myself it works for my 980X B1 Step 2 cpu). Change log reads:
  • Enable support for HDD above 2.2TB in size under AHCI mode.
  • Improve "DRAM Frequency" item for Xeon W35xx series CPU.
  • Fix CPU ratio adjustment function fail under Turbo V.
