| Asus P6T Deluxe V2 BIOS settings help please...
Hi Have just installed my shiny new Asus P6T Deluxe V2 board and I7-920 CPU and would like to know please..which BIOS settings I need to change to make the most of the board. Current BIOS version 0504 (came with it). At the moment everything is set to AUTO in the BIOS. RAM? I have 6GB Gskill Trident F3-16000CL9T-6GBTD. Stock heatsink and fan. Im also running Windows XP Pro but have an SSD with Windows 7 on it. Im a bit of a noob when it comes to BIOS settings so please plain english would help...lol Thanks in advance. |

I assume bios follows closely to layout of P6T6 WS Revolution Asus P6T6 WS Revolution Bios Template and Asus P6T6 WS Revolution Bios Screen Shots ? Reading Intel Core i7 920 Overclocking Introduction Guide on X58 all posts particularly post #3 should help with understanding the key settings you are adjusting. Memtest86+ v4.0 helps of specific diagnostics to see which voltages effect what part of instability there is still need windows testing to confirm stability. This is what I'd set for default speeds
Also saw you had stuttering issues, 99% sure that's due to SSD drive probably so try your first experience on X58/core i7 with regular SATA drive until you find your feet |

Try another video card or video card drivers and see as well. Also read Asus X58 + 6/12GB memory overclocking - detecting less memory than installed for info on optimal differential voltage between QPI/DRAM and VDIMM voltages while that thread is for memory detection it's also about memory stability as each cpu/mem pair as optimal differential voltage. For example my Gskill Trident 2000mhz kit with W3540 likes between 0.2v and 0.3v differential voltage more so need to set vdimm within 0.2v to 0.3v of QPI/DRAM. i.e. for 2000mhz speeds QPI/DRAM 1.4-1.45v and VDIMM 1.66v or around 0.21v to 0.26v differential voltage.

I assume you tried a different video card first ? Using above bios template can you post your settings you using now or have tried ? I don't game much but from what I read stuttering usually is video card/driver or board bios related. Although using 6GB in winxp will only give you 2.5-3.5GB of real available memory in total and max 2GB per process/app usable. Or could be game COD4 itself http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=99831 Does stutter only happen in COD4 and not other games ? I'd also try updating your bios via in bios ezflash P6T Deluxe V2 has following bioses from ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/LG...P6T_Deluxe_V2/ 0302 0406 0504 0610 Another thing to try is removing the sound card and any additional usb devices and see. Also try using a different keyboard/mouse (if USB connected). |

Lol..you make it sound like everyone lives in a computer shop....I dont have several video cards to choose from or other keyboards or mice etc etc..so I have to muddle through with what I have.... I have since installed my Vertex SSD and Windows 7 and all my issues seem to be gone. I really do appreciate all your help though!!! Cheers |

Can't believe you don't have spare components hehe but yeah understand what you mean ![]() Win7 + SSD fixed it huh... could of been slow disk access in some games causing it then. Still all the above suggested steps are valid diagnostic steps I'd take to figure out the problem if I was in your shoes. The bios update would a good one i hear 0610 bios is much better for memory compatibility etc too. Also good forum to browse to find potential issues and solutions http://vip.asus.com/forum/topic.aspx...Language=en-us as well ![]() enjoy the power of nehalem |
