No, not yet. I moved the sticks back to the X38 system to check them out. Was worried that the heat spreaders being "moveable" was a problem and might have been related to the problem. So far they have been checking out fine at the stock settings I listed above. Looking at some of your 533 FSB settings for an E6850 on the DFI X38 LT right now. |

Make sure to test ram on DFI X38 with 2:3 or 5:6 dividers to get memory isolated as other dividers have lower max mem clock ceilings due to latencies in chipset being tighter - i.e. hardest and tightest divider is 4:5 and 3:5 followed by 5:8 and 3:4

Thanks a bunch for that - Will do. Are those latencies related to what Stilt found on the P35? http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=147364 I'm starting to finally get somewhere and need to start documenting. |

Yes, it wasn't a BIOS configurable option but they found something was setting the latencies (in the chipset) for different ratios. Point being it looked like it could be changed on the fly but that's another subject. I'm hitting a wall at above 470FSB with 5:6 (DDR2 1129) 2.14v at default timings. Using the DFI X38 LT, BIOS 111, and an E6850 with: Code: CPU Feature - Thermal Management Control: Disabled - PPM(EIST) Mode: Disabled - Limit CPUID MaxVal: Disabled - CIE Function: Disabled - Execute Disable Bit: Disabled - Virtualization Technology: Disabled - Core Multi-Processing: Enabled Exist Setup Shutdown: Mode 2 CLOCK VC0 divider: AUTO CPU Clock Ratio: 7 - Target CPU Clock: 3290 CPU Clock: 470 Boot Up Clock: Auto DRAM Speed: 333/800 (5:6) - Target DRAM Speed: DDR2 1129 PCIE Clock: 100mhz Voltage Settings CPU VID Control: 1.300V CPU VID Special Add: Auto DRAM Voltage Control: 2.150V SB Core/CPU PLL Voltage: 1.510V NB Core Voltage: 1.356V CPU VTT Voltage: 1.255V Vcore Droop Control: Disabled Clockgen Voltage Control: 3.45v GTL+ Buffers Strength: Strong Host Slew Rate: Weak GTL REF Voltage Control: Enabled x CPU GTL1/3 REF Volt: 88 x CPU GTL 0/2 REF Volt: 88 x North Bridge GTL REF Volt: 96 DRAM Timing Enhanced Data transmitting: Fast Enhance Addressing: Fast T2 Displatch: AUTO Clock Setting Fine Delay - Ch1 Clock Crossing Setting: More Aggressive - DIMM 1 CLK fine delay: Current 178ps - DIMM 2 CLK fine delay: Current 545ps - DIMM 3 CLK fine delay: Current 623ps - DIMM 4 CLK fine delay: Current 378ps - Ch 1 Command fine delay: Current 890ps - Ch2 Clock Crossing Setting: More Aggressive - DIMM 1 CLK fine delay: Current 178ps - DIMM 2 CLK fine delay: Current 489ps - DIMM 3 CLK fine delay: Current 456ps - DIMM 4 CLK fine delay: Current 445ps - Ch 2 Command fine delay: Current 890ps Ch1Ch2 CommonClock Setting: More Aggressive CAS Latency Time (tCL): AUTO RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD): AUTO RAS# Precharge (tRP): AUTO Precharge Delay (tRAS): AUTO All Precharge to Act: AUTO REF to ACT Delay (tRFC): AUTO Performance Level: AUTO Read delay phase adjust: AUTO MCH ODT Latency: AUTO Write to PRE Delay (tWR): AUTO Rank Write to Read (tWTR): AUTO ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD): AUTO Read to Write Delay (tRDWR): AUTO Ranks Write to Write (tWRWR): AUTO Ranks Read to Read (tRDRD): AUTO Ranks Write to Read (tWRRD): AUTO Read CAS# Precharge (tRTP): AUTO ALL PRE to Refresh: AUTO PCIE Slot Config: 1X 1X CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disabled SATA Spread Spectrum: Disabled I upped it to the 2.14 (measured) and got past a boot, but failed. Well, I'm shooting in the dark at this stage. I'm either finding a hole/limit of the FSB on my E6850, the OC ability on these puppies aren't all that, or I'm just not doing something "right" yet. Going to try and get the mem speed back to something lower and concentrate on the FSB side on the E6850. Here are the Everest results from 450 and 460 FSB: ![]() |

Ok.. I give up. G.Skill is saying that these modules do not work (yet) with the DFI P35 or X38 boards. Not sure what the exact issue is (can't get that out of them) but they claim they are working on something for them. I didn't see any failures on the X38 with memtest86+ 1.70 with all the tests I did, but tried these again on the P35 at their default SPD DDR2 800 5-5-5-15 333/800 2.05v and they indeed still fail. With the heat spreaders coming loose, the limited OC on the X38 (more than likely could be pushed a bit more), G.Skill saying don't use them on both the DFI P35 and X38, and other motherboard incompatibilities G.Skill is starting to find, I think it's time to stop working on these. I'm trying to contact G.Skill directly to find out more, but for now I'm shelving them in their box ready to be RMA'd. Here's the 2 other boards they know of. Based on the last 680i comment, I don't know if these ASUS boards are known to have trouble with 2x 2GB 1066 kits or if it's specific to these modules.
