not bad for running 4x2GB with quad core... remember PC2-8500 rating is for 2x2GB not 4x2GB and quad core stresses NB more than dual core

I'm just annoyed because my P35 board was able to do it, and the more expensive X38 doesn't get close.


edit: And just to add to this, I've put my old D9Gxx sticks in and I've got DDR2-1200 5-5-5-11 2.25V just like that... only about 1.45V MCH. Grrrrr.

test each 2GB module individually rate their performance mhz vs vdimm used and then match them in their respective dimm slots i.e. if dimm 1+3 slots clock ram higher and 2 of the 2GB modules aren't as good as the other 2, put the lower clocking dimms in better dimm 1+3 slots..

aim to match them all optimally in all slots for best 4x2GB clocks

different board/models might have different optimal dimm slots and you might have not used the exact same 4x2GB module config as before unless you number your modules like I do

Might give that a go. How do you mark each one? E.g. whiteboard marker/bit of paper blu tacced on etc, or do you write it down somewhere which order they are in?

small piece of white masking tape stick to module and write #1, #2 etc for each module

then test modules and rate them i.e. 12GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 (Tracers + non-Tracers) Results

so pair #1 - modules #1 + #2, pair #2 - modules #3 + #4, pair #3 - modules #5 + #6... then jot down on paper what each module #1 to #6 can do.. match them accordingly.

Important to also find out which dimm slot 1+3 or 2+4 is the better slots

dosen't really matter with my P5E, tried both yellow and black slots, they are both ****. But yeh like you say Antari, 1GB sticks they clock quite well.
