It's even faster now - from my calculations it should be around another 39% improvement in page loading performance

Takes 31 seconds (repeatedly) to fully load this page including the Quick Reply box and all bits and pieces.
And thats without any pictures!

There may be some small effect due to being behind my work's network systems, but at home its much the same.

Have you guys done teh CTRL+F5 or cleared your browser caches yet to see if there's a difference on subsequent page loads ?

ctrl+F5 here, and about the same, but i wouldn't be surprised at all if it was our server.

our it man is crap, even when he is here.

as i said, home is fine.

So... anything that is my fault or just Singapore in general?

Probably the problem lies with your ISP's network. Nothing much you can do about it i don't think.
