ok so it's come down to the problematic memory controller on winchesters... so... stresscpu and memtest is the best combination to test my cpu and ram? how long should i leave stresscpu for? it's almost up to 300,000, probably been runing for 15-25 minutes i'm guessing? leave it for another half an hour u think? |

Generally an hour is good Stresscpu really heats up your cpui, moreso than P95 so I would take it not exitinmg or the system rebooting as a good sign the system is stable ![]() What I do is run stresscpu in conjunction with a Superpi 32M test That way you are testing both subsystems just like P95 does |

I can atest to the fact that I have a system perfectly stable (games, F@H, 24/7 uptime, etc) using stresscpu as my reference, however if I had relied on P95, I would have thought it wasn't and have been replacing components left right and centre. P95 is not the be-all-and-end-all of system reliability ![]() The sooner people let go of the falacy that Prime95 is the only way to determine system stability the better |

Thought you had sold that CPU recently? Or didn't it make reserve/instant? I have no huge dislike with P95, just that it CAN more often than not be a PITA, therefore I have moved away from it as my definitive test suite |

Ahh, so that is where I saw the eva 3700+ mentioned... Swap my FX53 for your 3.2EE (mine performs so much better in benchies anyway, give you an extra 300 points in 3D01 at least) ![]() DISCLAIMER: I have no need for a 3.2EE ATM, so I hope you dont take post seriously, as it contains far too much tounge in cheek |
