Ok i'm going to be ordering the rest of my pc components soon. Already got an E8400 comming via express post.

Just wondering when using a thermalright ultra 120 what sort of temperature gains do you get from using a push/pull confirguration?

The two types of fans I was intending to use are:

Scythe 1200rpm 49CFM 20.1dBA

1600RPM 63.7CFM 28.0dBA

I honestly have no idea about the noise levels of these two fans as decibels don't mean much to me. However naturally I would like my computer to be as quiet as possible whilst offering good thermal performance.


I would ideally like to reach a stable 24/7 4Ghz Oc cpu and temperature depending of course.

Only other question I have is in regards to which ram to purchase. I'm currently looking at four sets:

Team Xtreem 2x1GB DDR2 800MHz CL4-4-10 $142

Crucial Ballistix 2Gb 800MHz CAS 4-4-4-12 DDR2 Memory Kit - 2 x 1Gb $139

Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2Gb 1066MHz CAS 5-5-5-15 DDR2 Memory Kit - 2 x 1Gb, LEDs $179

Crucial Ballistix 2Gb 1066MHz CAS 5-5-5-15 DDR2 Memory Kit - 2 x 1Gb $169

However i'm unsure if these sets are superfluous/bad value.

75cfm or higher would be best Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme + MX-2

go for the higher cfm fan and if possible, use two in a blow and pull setup.

Thx very much for the advice guys. Ended up ordering two of the thermaltake smart fans. Once all of the parts arrive i'll hopefully be able to post some results here.
