The nail polish helps prevent condensation a little, but I think it is more there for when condensation does occur, it only forms on the nail polish and not the electrical components. Almost like making part of the motherboard waterproof

Yep, spray paint lacquer/varnish does the same job, just tape up the board and spray ware needed
