Scary stuff... it's my first time ever water cooling a video card I probably put off GPU water cooling for numerous reasons one being i can't volt mod if my life depended on it and straight water cooling for stock volt cards don't bring much gain. But along comes HIS X1800XT with software adjustable voltage for GPU and mem I'm using the following:
I originally wanted to use my MCP600 pump but that went down the sink read MCP600 went down the sink ![]() Pictures: There aren't any right now because the gear is placed in my utility trolley's 2nd tray pictured here http://www.fileshosts.com/DFI/NF4_SL...n_cooled/html/. Due to the placement of gear, you wont get any clear pictures of the gear once it's installed and I didn't bother taking pics when installing. Will take some later if possible ![]() Here's Kayl's custom 100W psu i'm using - i'm using the one marked 13.81v which is the max adjustable 12V voltage i can set if needed ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Full pics of psus here http://www.fileshosts.com/watercooling/custompsu/html/ Results: Nice and cool @625/750 stock 1.3v (disabled ATI CCC) GPU idle = 33C GPU environment = 30-31C GPU load = 37C GPU environment = 34-35C Post GPU load temps instantly drop to 33C ![]() I'm going to have some fun ![]() edit: my progression so far HIS X1800XT stock heatsink, stock bios max clock = 756/900 load temp 69-71C VF700CU with zalman ramsinks with ceramique, stock bios max clock = 735/873 load temp 73-85C HIS X1800XT stock heatsink 1st remount with ceramique, stock bios max clock = 756/936 load temp 69-71C HIS X1800XT stock heatsink 1st remount with ceramique, stock bios + air con cooled max = 776/936 load temp 59-62C HIS X1800XT + DD Acetal Maze4 with ceramique, stock biox + air con cooled = 817mhz on core and 963mhz artifact free and 972-981 with slight artifact in GT3 of 3D2k05 - mem undervolted from 2.097v default to 1.985v allows me to jump from 936 to 981mhz!. Load temp 51-52C room ambient between 28-31C average Update: Jan 5, 2006 Unhappy with the mem clocks with the puny Zalman ramsinks, i swapped 5 of the pieces over to some BGA copper monster ramsinks - these are huge @20x20x15mm ! About damn time is all i've gotta say Welcome! GPU cooling is a heck of a lot more fun than straight air. Can't wait to see some results from the 1800XT now it's on water. What's the next step? ---dens |

Next step who knows ![]() Well just prelim looping ATI Tool beta 11 'show 3d' stress test. oc'ing using ATI Tool beta 11 max = 762mhz at 1.45v and locks up higher but using good old method of X1800 Overclocking tool for clocking max i get so far is: GPU 783mhz at 1.5v 789mhz at 1.525v 796mhz at 1.55v (gpu idle = 46-47C and gpu load = 51-52C) Mem seems to lost mem max of 909-936mhz with the puny Zalman ramsinks - past 769mhz GPU can't get mem past 873mhz ?????? Tried upping and lowing mem volt doesn't seem to help ... SIOUX how ya manage 970-999mhz on mem ? I think i need some fan cooling over ramsinks to see if that helps ![]() edit: realised the 2x side 120x25mm 71cfm fans were turned off so no additional air flow was happening - turn them on and bam mem @920mhz and rising so far ![]() |
