referring to AMD64 Overclocking Guide at AMD64 Overclocking Guide (07/11/06) ========= "The trick is to overclock where FSB/HTT x LDT Multiplier x2 resulting value is under the max supported/rated cpu HTT bus speed:" I dont think you should have the "x2" in that statement "Dynamic Counter = AUTO (disabled may help with OCZ EB based memory)" Can you explain or link to anything about this setting? Is there a performance hit with disabling it? |

no clear idea on Dynamic Counter only that for some with OCZ EB reported higher bandwidth/lower latency in everest latency test with it disabled. While people with other memory got higher bandwidth with it enabled. Depends on ram really. Yeah i had trouble deciding if i wanted to put x2 in statement as not sure since motherboard manuals and manufacturer web site product spec sheets always quote them as x2 for HTT Bus speed - would confuse the newbies or those unfamiliar with AMD64 ? |

IMO so long as it says "The trick is to overclock where FSB/HTT x LDT Multiplier = (or less than) max supported/rated cpu HTT bus speed" then it should make sense. Meaning 250HTT x LDT Multi 3x = 750, or 250HTT x LDT Multi 4x = 1000. Anyhow, as it is, it is a great read for both beginner and familiar OC'ers, wish it was around when i started on A64! Few spelling mistakes, but i can live with them :P edit: Yer, i actually remember some board quoted as 2000 capable, making your statement correct. |

hey eva, nice guide... once thing i want to ask... on my k8nsu939... in the bios there are various mem timing settings, and i have played around with alot of them... it seems odd to me that usually the more stable ones are the tighter timings??? anyways... what i mainly wanted to ask was... you said for TCCD ram to leave to 3120 cycles - this is for refresh right? well in my bios there is 1x3120 (haven't checked that a64tweaker reports this as), 2x3120 (my board sets it automatically to this, a64tweaker says it's 200 MHz 3.9us), & 4x3120 (200mhz 15.6us). ANYWAY, what is the difference between them all? to gain stability do i go for low MHZ and low us???)... i remember codered saying something about the less frequently the memory refreshes, the higher the performance, thus 15.6 us would be best performance, but possibly lowest stability? and as for the MHz part, i'm totally lost. in my bios if i set to 4 x 1552 i get 100mhz 15.6us, 4 x 20XX i get 133 15.6, 4x2592 i get 166 15.6, and 4x3120 i get 200 15.6us, and i THINK that of all i've tested... 4x3120 has been the most stable yet... but not 100% sure. |
