Morning everyone, I've been prepping for a while now mounts for my vapochill and the second head of my kayl frozen ss for use with my 8800gts, I'm getting some great clocks with water but I thought it was time to increase the cooling and push for 800-900mhz core required for some serious 3dmark runs. To my surprise the vapochill was unable to hold the load of the 8800, it used to hold my fx60 fine which produced alot of heat overclocked, but not the 8800. I tried remounting about 30 times, and different levels of insulation, even totally un-insulated, when i could see there was perfect contact between the gpu and the coldblock my temperatures on the 8800 never went below about 3-5 degrees, and when under load went up to 30-35 degrees. I'm at a loss to figure this out, am I missing something? Is dice/ln2 my only option for the 8800? I know the vapochill isnt optimzied for heavy load, but the compressor temps never read higher than about 49degrees so I thought it was handling the load fine.. Any suggestions would be great, I'm going to try tonight some runs at stock (or close to 1.3v) voltages and see if it handles that alot better. Cheers |

thats the one thing i didnt try last night, and i woke up this morning feeling stupid not for trying it, im going to reduce to stock volts tonight and give it a try, see what my results are like then, ive sort of got the feeling that if it cant handle 1.6v whats the point? i'll probably get better clocks under water, but its worth a try.. |
