Considering what I have seen from Wireless Internet (both Telstra & Unwired/Exetel) in the past. There is alot of loss with wireless (as opposed to the typical 20% or so for normal line-based broadband eg 512k is more like low 50's really, 64 technically, which is what ISP's quote). It is all too common to see 512k wireless users getting 20-40kb/sec on average, this was one reason I advised my brother just to stick to a 256k plan as the premium on the 512k was not worth it as the speed would not be much different (he is a light user as well). |
