i just redid my htpc and basically did the same sort of thing, except the asus 1gb 3650 ar passive cards wernt available anymore so i decided to go with the 3450 instead,

biostar tpower i45
gskill 6400 hz 2gb kit
e7200 with passive heatsink
500gb hdd in scythe silencer
asus 3450 passive
asus dvdr
2x DNTVNOW pci tuners

is a great upgrade from the weak htpc i had before ive stayed with xpmce for now, because as anyone thats built and customized a htpc knows it takes so long and you dont want to change your configurations when they are right =p

Wow YP thats better than most users systems, how you going there I hope all is good. All you need to compliment such a nice HTPC is a DIY Projector:

I'm going to have a go at it soon, will be cheaper than any quality products and a hell of a lot better than any Chinese/Korean made rubbish plus you get that satisfaction of DIY.

nice James, so that's where the biostar goes after retirement hehe

these ATI 3450/3650 are pretty nice for what they cost aren't they ? my HTPC is running very nicely. i've since enabled S3 sleep to lower noise level in living room to virtually nothing when HTPC is idle and doing nothing

So glad i decided on 2x 500GB and i have one disk for os + own media files and other disk to record tv and they both get pretty full at times

Last thing I want to do to my HTPC is figure out how to capture/schedule record satellite broadcast tv from my TVB.com.au subscription - so far read can't do that unless i fork out more for a analog tv tuner/capture card hmmm

sweet eva, yeah s3 is the only way to go... nah ive still got my benching biostar tpower board, but this is my second one retired to media centre

yeah the 3450/3650 is the ideal card, very cool running, does all the avivo, and well costed!

i decided to go a different route from the internal raid/mce storage and put in a thecus 1200, just a single hdd nas solution, 1TB, and store all my music/media centrally for access by mce and networked computers...

if you find out how to record satellite/cable please let me know, id love to be able to schedule and record foxtel!

yeah boldeagle i was going to do one of them in the past... ive got the samsung 42" plasma in a kind of small flat, i dont think these days i could fit a projector into my flat =p

Yeah with my HD3650 video card and Vista MCE and Windows Media Classic player, about 33% of cpu load gets off loaded to video card too via post processing so less load on cpu! Not sure if that's by default or after I enabled post processing via a Vista MCE Media Control plugin i installed

Interesting method for own media files via thecus 1200

Here is a pic of mine, if you feel i'm invading your thread feel free to delet my pic.

Now i put the Maximus F2 in it.
When thought in this project was to make a Gaming HTPC, but a card to play at full hd, release a lot heat, and i change it to something more fresh.
How it was...

Latter i will put the pics of the final release
I love that case, looks like a Theta Casablanca Pre-Pro to me or something Krell would make, as a matter of fact I wanted that same case or one of the big Silverstones, the only reason I didn't buy one of them was Thermaltake came out w/ a case that while it doesn't have the classic beauty of that type of case it is bigger and holds more HDD's which is what I eventually decided on

ocgw

peace

HTPCs are very handy to have, although setting up tv guide for Australian channels is still a pain since Australian tv guide operators like to charge $$$ for their info, so free info is hard to get in an easy and timely manner
