I've won a bid on a 1gb set (2x512meg) of Geil Golden Dragon memory at a very good price and I just wanted to hear a bit more about it. Its going to be used in a s754, and eventually a s939 system. Overclocking will be minimal (i've completely lost interest in overclocking at that moment, hence why I decided to save money and get cheaper memory). I'm just wondering what you all think of this memory. I specifically wanted it because of its single sided sticks which means 1T shouldn't be a problem in either s754 or s939. Anything else I need to know? Generally they tend to do 250 @ 2.5-4-4-7 @ 2.85v by the looks of it.... and will happily sit around 2-3-3-6 @ 200mhz with 2.75v. edit: On a side note.... what do you think my Corsair in my sig is worth? Is $70-80 unreasonable? |

It seems the user is selling the Golden Dragon sticks because he wants something to run better under Athlon64. Can someone give me an idea on what I could expect from them on A64. If they arn't going to run 1T in dual channel i'll just pay the extra for brand new 3200c2 and hope I get lucky with UTT BH-5. |

Had 2x 256MB Geil PC3700 Golden dragon which didn't do rated 2.5-3-3-6 speeds on any board except Albatron PX865PE Pro2 s478, but did it at 2.5-4-3-8. Then Geil revised rated timings to loosen their revised revs but i decided not to rma them. Then tried on DFI NF3 250Gb and they did 245-250mhz 2.5-3-3-7 easy. Sold them to Ozmund ages back. Never tried on s939 so who knows, Geil Golden Dragon ain't ideal these days. But try it and find out. |

The user was a bit skeptical to tell me why he was selling... turns out his memory isn't compatible with DFI s939 boards.... so it looks like i'm going to look at Corsair 3200 of some sort. Just need to weight up if its worth going for the 3200c2 and hoping for some TCCD or BH-5.... or just spend the extra $100 on 3200XL/4400c25 for garanteed TCCD. |

It was $150. Turns out the reason he was selling it was because it wouldn't run at 1T at any speed on his DFI SLI-D so I told him i'm no longer interested. Instead... I bit the bullet and bought a new set of Corsair 3200c2 Rev 4.3 which are Samsung -5 TCCD... but i'm not sure if they are on brainpower pcb's or not... still... $215 for brand new TCCD delivered to my door ain't bad at all.... and I know my current mobo loves Corsair. |
