Hi

again i have put off getting my next system (mainly due to slackness at researching AND finding the best hardware) ... BUT

lets say someone has done the hard work (ie finding a killer cpu with batch numbers , ram and ram settings and getting it all to work on a stable mobo etc) ;
is it worth grabbing such a set up?

and if so, how would i find such second hand hardware?

now i dont want to cop a tirade of abuse but do people like eva2000 and dinos22 sell their 'old' hardware?

Finding gems 2nd hand is always nice, my Team 6400C3 D9GMH and E6850 L720A489 are both purchased 2nd and very nice stuff

I know dinos and I both have alot of hardware probably for sale later on heh.

For beginners or folks with no time, I say it's worth it, but part of the fun is finding out for yourself too hence the love of brand new toys hehe.

totally agree ... the problem lies in the fact that very few retailers allow the customer to cherry pick cpu batch numbers etc

and inevitably (not being in the computer trade - pc's are a hobby for me) the customer will always get the duds

i have booked marked a website that allows specific batch numbers to be requested - only problem is its in the US - which is not a problem until something goes wrong

even thou in the past i have bought computers from local shops mainly due to convenience... on this occasion my parts will be sourced where ever i find exactly what i want

and hopefully everything will come together nicely

from what i have read over at ocau priceguidenetwork also is quite helpful when it comes to specific batch numbers etc
