I pulled my W3540 back out for some high BCLK + high CPU clock action today. While 220BCLK is nothing special for a Classified mobo (I'm looking at you R3E) it was enough for me to push the CPU clock to 4.4GHz. 1.435v BIOS set on vcore was enough for single Super Pi 32M stability. Some of my voltages look a bit high but I was just trying to get it to pass without spending a lot of time tweaking and may have overcompensated. I also picked up a couple of Scythe 3000RPM fans and man are those things loud ![]() Test Setup: Intel Xeon W3540 D0 (Batch # 3851A257) EVGA 4-Way Classified E762 BIOS 76 Antec TPQ-1200 Thermalright Venomous X + 2x Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000RPM Windows 7 Enterprise x64 Single Super Pi 32M ![]() Everest Bandwidth ![]() I found out something about this chip while trying to push for 4.4~4.5GHz LinX stability. This thing is a dog in terms of pure MHz clocking. Not only does it need crazy volts (1.45v wasn't enough for 4.4GHz stable), it runs HOT. The ambient temp in this room is probably around 23°C and even with two 3000RPM 110cfm fans running in push/pull config on a Venomous X Core#0 hit 93° during the IntelBurnTest runs ![]() |
