12GB Super Talent Speed series 2200 CAS8 WS220UX4G8 Elpida 50nm Hyper ICs

Picked up 3 sets of 2x2GB Super Talent Speed series DDR3-2200 8-8-8-24 dual channel kits (WS220UX4G8) - these are Elpida 50nm Hyper ICs only ones capable of 8-8-8-24 timings at such DDR3-2200Mhz speeds.
While they're for P55 dual channel, I decided to mix these up for X58 triple channel too - not expecting 3x2GB modules to hit thos speeds at 1.65v but with a bit more volts should be okay for benching at least






Done preliminary memtest86+ v4.10 comparisons only with one full test #1-8 pass + 10 loops of test #5 looping. As stated here, memtest86+ v4.10 doesn't mean same windows stability, for that you need to test in windows.

How to compare results, basically came down to max 6-6-6-20, 6-7-6-20. and 8-8-8-24 timing memory frequencies at same voltages and subtimings to differentiate between the 3 kits.
Final part of memtest is to find a module out of Kit #1 and #3, which best matches Kit #2 performance for 3x2GB custom binned kit
How's it compare to Kingston 2000C8 kit at KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX - Elpida MGH-E Hyper + Core i7 980X ? I'd say at each timings Kingston 2000C8 kit has around 20-25mhz (DDR3 equivalent of 40-50mhz i.e. DDR3-1850Mhz vs DDR3-1800Mhz) extra headroom over the Super Talent 2200C8 so far.

How to compare results, basically came down to max 6-6-6-20, 6-7-6-20. and 8-8-8-24 timing memory frequencies at same voltages and subtimings to differentiate between the 3 kits.
- Only Kit #2 managed DDR3-1800Mhz 6-6-6-20 at 1.7v, while Kit #1 & #3 fell just short at DDR3-1788Mhz 6-6-6-20 at 1.7v.
- Max 6-7-6-20 timings frequency also saw Kit #2 lead at DDR3-1900Mhz 6-7-6-20 at 1.74v, then Kit #1 at DDR3-1880mhz 6-7-6-20 at 1.74v then last Kit #3 at DDR3-1870Mhz 6-7-6-20 at 1.74v
- Kit #2 was also stronger on max 8-8-8-24 timings with DDR3-2086Mhz 8-8-8-24 at 1.66v capped at CPU VTT 1.45v (as you see bump CPU VTT volts theres more headroom at DDR3-2110Mhz).
- Kit #1 + #3 tied at capped 1.45v CPU VTT at DDR3-2076Mhz 8-8-8-24 but push CPU VTT to 1.475v and Kit #2 beat out #3 kit DDR3-2110Mhz vs DDR3-2100Mhz 8-8-8-24 at 1.66v.
Final part of memtest is to find a module out of Kit #1 and #3, which best matches Kit #2 performance for 3x2GB custom binned kit

How's it compare to Kingston 2000C8 kit at KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX - Elpida MGH-E Hyper + Core i7 980X ? I'd say at each timings Kingston 2000C8 kit has around 20-25mhz (DDR3 equivalent of 40-50mhz i.e. DDR3-1850Mhz vs DDR3-1800Mhz) extra headroom over the Super Talent 2200C8 so far.

Quick runs seeing as 2 modules out of 6 can do 900mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.7v memtest86+ v4.10 and the other 4 modules only do 894mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.7v memtest86+ v4.10, then for just single 32M Pi test, 6x2GB Super Talent 2200C8 falling in around:
- 879Mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.7v with CPU VTT 1.4125v
- 885mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.7v with CPU VTT 1.425v
- 889mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.72v with CPU VTT 1.4375v
- 894mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.72v with CPU VTT 1.44375v
Bootable at 879Mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.66v with CPU VTT 1.3875v

Update:
Funny only just noticed in everest spd display, that the XMP Extreme DDR3-2200 profile for 8-8-8-24 also has a setting for 6-6-6-20 and look what mem frequency it is = 879mhz 6-6-6-20 which coincidentally is the frequency I hit for 6x2 = 12GB @879Mhz 6-6-6-20 1T of course at higher volts 1.7v instead of 1.65v which 2x2GB 2200C8 kit XMP Extreme profile would be rated.
Update 2:
Seems 6x2GB isn't as much fun on i7 980X with safe cpu vtt volts. Might need much higher cpu vtt and vdimm than 3x2GB, that's what i'm finding with 980X and 6x2GB 2200C8 stuff - pretty much DDR3-1800Mhz and looser timings 8-9-8-x and 9-9-9-x is the limit if i want to keep cpu vtt <1.5v - as i7 980X best to keep below 1.4-1.5v. So probably leave 6x2GB to when i test on bloomfield cpus for 1.55+ cpu vtt. 6x2GB 2200C8 at <DDR3-1700 is okay for CAS6/7 which is expected for 6x2GB unmatched dual channel kit operation.Posted 07-06-2010 at 09:45 PM by eva2000

Finally, broke my personal best DDR3 memory frequency for triple channel on Asus P6T6 WS Revolution @DDR3-2462.8Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.74v with just 1.50v CPU VTT with water cooled i7 980X
All below done in one long bench session

First safe voltage for 8-8-8-24 1T clocks, how about 8x32M Pi @DDR3-2000Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.64v and 1.35v CPU VTT
