I usually run with sata DVD drive , but I Have 2x500GB drives on which I Have alternate OS that I can boot to if needed, my data etc., & Acronis backup images. So usually one of the 500gb is plugged into a jmicron Sata , only having 6 sata here i've ditched the Sata DVD for an IDE one.

I've noticed with ICH9R that isssue about some cd's not booting from sata ports in raid access mode. Need to switch to IDE which can be a pia.
